A Fine Example of Christianity
Well, since I used Angelina Jolie as an example of Christ-like love, I thought I might as well point out this comment I received on an old post about the Bayly brothers.
Why don’t I give you a blank book, so you can rewrite scripture. The bible is patriarchal. period. end of story. you don’t like this.
you are being disobedient to the word of God. Repent, and ask for God’s mercy on this issue.
The “name” of the commenter was written as “God is a “father”. Deal with it!!”
There you have it. Just in case you wanted to see a fine example of Christ-like love coming from within the evangelical Christian community. My Bayly brothers posts seem to bring out the best in their buddies, even months after the fact.

True to form, though; the pattern is quite predictable. Makes you wonder, though, how posting something like this is “obedience to the word of God” and fruit worthy of the commenter’s own repentance.
Maybe we’re not supposed to notice such things. Sorry you got whapped by the wrath of the drive-by commenter, Chewymom.

What your drive-by commenter misses is the fact that while there is indeed patriarchy in the Bible, it is NEVER commanded nor commended by God. In fact, patriarchy was a result of the Fall.
If these individuals were to take the whole counsel of scripture, not only would they understand that, but they would also be acting a lot differently. Mature and faithful Christians use their power and authority to serve, not to lord it over. Mature and faithful Christians lead by example, not by scolding. Mature and faithful Christians speak respectfully to others, even when they disagree.
