A Lobotomy Will Not be Necessary!

We live in a small town, and we love it! We moved here from a very large city where my dh had a 45 minute commute on a really good day. Now his commute is 4 miles. Our town isn’t so small that we know everybody, but it is close. Everyday we learn that somebody else is related to a friend, or a friend of a friend, or whatever.

Because of this small-ness, we happen to be good friends with my doctor. To me, this is the neatest thing. He delivered DD2–was the first face she ever saw. And he plays the bass guitar at our church. Every Sunday as he sits at the front leading us in worship, he can look out over all of the squirmy little children and know that he brought most of them into the world. That must be so rewarding. Almost makes me choke up like a “touchy-feely” type. Naah. But still, it is a precious thing to me.

So, I emailed this Dr. M last weekend to ask his advice. See, I’ve been having these bizarre symptoms for several weeks. Nausea, dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, slight headaches, low energy, and just generally feeling like I had a buzz. Now, a buzz can be a good thing. But a three-week buzz gets old. Eventually you want to shake those cobwebs out of your head and think CLEARLY! (This probably explains a lot about my blogs, doesn’t it?) Like I said, I emailed Dr. M and asked him for a second opinion (the first opinion being Web MD, which lined my symptoms up with either a constant migraine or a brain tumor). He was just thrilled to be my second opinion and emailed back and said to make an appointment. And he assured me that my head problems were nothing a good old lobotomy couldn’t fix!

I went to see him today, and his diagnosis is a sinus infection! It appears that something (mold??) is blooming/growing like mad here, and the whole town is walking around with a buzz! Well, maybe not a buzz, but odd head-symptoms anyway. So I’m trying out an antihistimine and all. If that doesn’t do the trick, I’m sure my dh will sign me up for that lobotomy. He’s sick of me diagnosing myself on the internet and probably thinks I do have a screw or two loose in my head….

yep, definitely separated at birth. I am sorry to hear of this as I too suffer from sinus infections brought on by mold and dust. I moved from a house where mold was a problem to a house where dust is a problem. Ugh! Have some coffee and pie and feel better soon : )

[...] Ok, thanks to Dr. M I think I’ve gone from a 3-week buzz to being drunk. This “non-drowsy” antihistimine has knocked me out and made me just loopy…. I REALLY need a nap. Or a latte. [...]

And so does mold spread via the net? I have horrid cold symptoms, achy face and runny nose–but it came on overnight. It feels more like allergies than “sick.” Red tide is in full bloom *boo, hiss* and it makes me cough–but I wonder if the wind was such that the nasty ol’ red tide toxins are impacting mre more? Or if it’s just a cold. I’ve been washing my hands and using purell compulsively.

[...] I think my drunken, buzzed fog is lifting! I’m still sensitive to light and sound, and I have a slight headache. Oh, and I’m still half asleep, thanks to my so-called “non-drowsy” antihistimines. But maybe, just maybe Dr. M was right and this isn’t all in my head….Or rather, it IS all in my head, but nothing that a little antihistimine can’t clear up. [...]

[...] (Now Dr. M’s lobotomy comment makes a lot more sense, doesn’t it?) [...]
