No Fanny Like Moms Fanny
If you haven’t given a fanny pack a go a s a mom – you’re missing out, woman![dropcap]I[/dropcap] know, I know… it’s dated. Again. It is, indeed, so 2013, but, I have to declare, still….
I love my fanny pack. No really, I do. I have an obsession!
Leaving the house on an errand run, baby and stroller in hand (or teeth or feet – whatever you can balance all your shiieeee… errrr… stuff with), without it isn’t the end of the world but, it’s much more organized and right at my side where I need it (I also slide it to the left, like Matthew).
It’s especially useful in the warmer months, when girls are stuffing their pocket books full of countless things we need on the go. And don’t get me wrong, a great bag is great! But, when faced with a bank run, book return, or post office sometimes it’s just simpler to grab old faithful.
Even along with a purse or pocketbook, the fanny pairs beautifully for all your odd ends that you want on hand but not necessarily on your person. This can be a change of socks, lotion, bobby pins or other items that you’d feel safe leaving in an assessable place like at the beach, pool or your car.
What’s in Your Fanny?
(IMHO) Mine is especially cute with the crossbones & skull on it and features two main compartments, a secret zipper, a front pocket and adjustable strap, which served me well during my pregnancy… okay, okay and since then. Fits everything I need on a run:
- Keys – check.
- Money – check.
- License – check.
- Change – check.
- Pen – check.
- Sun block – check.
- Checkbook – check.
- You get the idea…
Fanny Pack on the Go
There are also places and times that are more fanny friendly than others.
- running kids to and from is more organized
- getting to the gym or yoga is painless
- going to the beach is much more efficient
- theme park or water park perfec (lifesaver at Disney!)t
- awesomely convenient on a daily run, jog, or walk
- efficiently hiking the trails
Matthew McConaughey, a dad, is in the pro camp. He was recently spotted in a leather fanny pack and had this to say:
I’m not afraid of the fanny pack. Are you going to put the stuff in your pockets? You’ve got to put it on the side to make look it a little not as nerdy. But still, practicality wins out. I’ve got so much gear in here that I don’t want in my pockets. I’m not afraid of the fanny pack!

Fun fact: Unlike every other little thing out there, the fanny pack doesn’t seem to have an inventor who is cashing in on the idea or name. It belongs to all of us. It’s the People’s Pouch!
Please note: The photos below are not to make it seem cool or to sell you a fanny pack. If you know me at all, you know that I make my own cool. And by that, I mean I, typically, don’t believe the hype (which is why I am still on the wagon since the 90’s fanny).
I simply love this little product because it’s a problem solver and a great aid in my life. It enhances it greatly and I thought I’d share my fruits with those of you who may be balancing a whole lot in your daily life and could use an extra fanny ;).
