I’ve been meaning to start doing these “round up” posts a while back now. Dare I say, blogs ago!? Well, it finally came to fruition and I hope you guys enjoy it reading it as I had finding these little treasures from around the web.
The name and layout of this series will probably evolve as we delve deeper (and I hope that we will) but for now I am keeping it simple — Interesting Chewy Finds for Parents & Kids. I encourage you guys to grow it with me and welcome your feedback at the end of the post.
Now, on to the interesting finds . . .
While We Try To Teach Children Wall Art
Being the creative type, I very much enjoy wall art and anything that has to do with family. But it’s not any old thing that strikes me. this beautifully honest message is also gorgeous in this unique black and red postage stamp design. I’ve seen wall art with this quote by Angela Schwindt, a home-schooling Mom in Oregon but none that looked quite so beautiful. It’s 100% handmade and will add beauty to any room! I just love it. Well done Premier Home & Gifts!
While we try to tach our children about life, our children teach us what life is all about.
Lego Hair Helmet
With an awesome goal in mind, Simon Higby and Clara Prior designed this Lego Hair Bike Helmet to help cut back on the number of young kids riding without helmets and in a word it’s DOPE! In their infancy stages, this is still just a prototype, but I know one thing, I want one! Thanks sogoodsobad.com for this.
Temperature Taking Tantrum Enders
Spring is coming and that means the weather will hopefully be resembling the changing of the seasons sooner than later. And while I am all for the warmer weather and one of my favorite seasons, with weather changes comes sickness.
Many studies show that rhinovirus and coronavirus are the two main agents of the common cold,” Kaplan told Live Science. “Interestingly, they flourish in cooler weather, such as what we have in spring and fall.[Is It Safe to Hold in a Sneeze?]
And nothing stinks more than having your kids sick. Well, maybe it’s slightly worse when they are itty bitty, helpless infants with a cold or flu. You know what else stinks? Taking a little ones temperature you’re usually in for a most unpleasant experience (for parents and tots alike) but with this little gadget the temperature taking tantrums are a thing of the past. Unfortunately we are past the stage that would require this so I lack personal experience but I am sure it would’ve made my life (not to mention Bossy’s) a whole lot easier. The moms who bought the Summer Infant Pacifier Thermometer were quite please with their choice too. You can get yours at Amazon.
I nearly lost my mind when I finally found the Intelliglobe II. If I were to tell you the whole truth, I first discovered this interactive globe at one of my clients homes, back in another life, when I was a dog sitter many, many years ago.
A brilliant family of doctors whose intentionally modest home was filled with books, pianos, and brain teasing games I was quite impressed with their dedication to an intellectual mind. The Intelliglobe II was one of they toys their 8 year old had and I was impressed by it, to say the least. Why? The features, man. Check out the features!

Scanmarker Air Digital Highlighter
If you have a student in your life this Digital Highlighter by Scanmarker is something seriously incredible that will transform every students life. I am blown away at it’s simplisity and yet it’s incredible abilities.
Here is what Way Cool Gadgets has to say about it:
The digital highlighter essentially scans your handwritten text, or text in a book, and transfers it into any application that accepts keyboard typing, i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The highlighter is a handheld scanner that attaches to your computer with a USB cable. It recognizes characters from 8 pt to 24 pt, and it has a scan field of 0.4 inches. This is most helpful for college students or anyone who writes for a living. By digitizing your notes, you can easily transfer your thoughts directly from the notes document into your report. Plus, if you were taking handwritten notes from a textbook, you can now just highlight the text in the book and skip the handwritten notes altogether.
It also functions as a personal reading guide, which means it helps the owner enhance text comprehension, pronunciation, and the ability to read on his or her own. This is especially helpful for those with reading difficulties. The digital highlighter can also translate multiple languages, provides a text-to-speech function, has a dictionary and a thesaurus, and it can even read business cards. It has a lot to offer both students and working professionals, and it doesn’t have complicated internal components that wear down over time or require cleaning. It uses advanced patented image processing algorithms to scan text, which means it will last a good long while.
Bluelaser Aromatherapy Phone Sanitizer
I knew phones were dirty but geez! Warning, while the video is very entertaining, it’s gross and has some colorful language. The bottom line is, there are some VERY scary things found on peoples phones. A handful of unsuspecting employees had their phones tested and the results weren’t pretty. I am sure our phones are no better. Here is the article that will show you every yucky detail of this experiment at Buzzfeed: We Tested Our Phones For Germs And It Went Worse Than We Thought. Yikes.
Now that you can’t sleep with the idea of having poop on your phone and you just happen to be a clean freak, check out this nifty thing that will sanitize your phone (watch, jewelry, etc) to pristine cleanliness (kills 99.99% of germs in 6 minutes) and a beautiful aroma! Plus, the universal charger making it easy to charge and sanitize at the same time. And why stop at the phone? This little device can sterilize baby toys, utensils, glasses, toothbrushes, watches, keys, jewelry, and so on.
Upgrade Heated Butter Knife
Wow. Now that I see this thing up close and personal, I can’t help but wonder how come it took so damn long for someone to actually come up with this thing. Waiting a half a day for the butter to melt or ending up with a chewed up piece of toast before it ever hits the kids mouth are behind us! The Upgrade Heated Butter Knife heats up in less time than it takes to make the toast and can be used for a number of things like cheese or ice cream cake. With perfect reviews, this one is definitely on the wish list.
Until Next Time
