It Ain’t the Today Show

Today my son, DS13 was interviewed for a news show! There’s this new little t.v. station in town. By little I mean…well…LITTLE! And this lady has a funny little (there’s that word, again) show that airs daily for an hour. So she interviewed my son and one other student about Robotics. Both kids, along with a few others, had participated in a state robotics tournament last spring and won 1st and 3rd places.

The interview started (live, I might add). I’ve never seen a broadcaster get so tongue tied in my life. She introduced them as the [school name] AEROBICS team! My son just about died. She called them the Aerobics Team about 10 times before someone corrected her and pointed out that they were the ROBOTICS team. I think DS13 should’ve just jumped out of his chair and danced across the floor or something. Ahhh…little news-shows in little towns. It isn’t the Today show, but it’s just…CUTE!

i think the phrase my mom likes to use applies to your little (there’s that word again) local newscaster: “bless her little pointed head.” but, maybe she’s on to something. can aerobic robots be far off? i can just see them in their little [smile] neon-colored leotards and leg warmers sweatin’ to the oldies a la richard simmons. actually, that would pretty much be what i call an “etch-a-sketch” moment–it makes you want to shake your head and clear the offending mental vision out as fast as possible.
