It Worked!!

It has been nearly nine months since I publically announced that I was beginning a personal Waldemart boycott. Not too many people have made fun of me, but several have questioned me about it. Once I slipped up and actually found myself inside a Walmart. But only once. Otherwise I have been faithful to my personal boycott. And now I see I was successful.

I picked up Sunday’s Atlanta newspaper, and I found an article titled, “Wal-Mart under siege: Era of high growth possibly over, analysts say.” The first paragraph reads:

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is fighting battles on multiple fronts [Chewymom being one of those fronts, I might add] after posting its first quarterly profit decline in 10 years [see what I mean? They lost money because I was boycotting them!], and analysts question whether the world’s largest retailer can regain the feverish growth rates of its past.” [They can't. I've ruined them.]

Although the writer of this article, Marcus Kabel speculates on the causes of Waldemart’s decline, I know the real reason. Kabel mentions Andrew Young’s moronic comments, which resulted in him resigning as head of a pro-Waldemart advocacy group. (Just to show you what kind of person heads a “Walmart advocacy” group, Young said it is fine that Walmart is causing mom-and-pop stores to close their doors because, “Those are the people who have been overcharging us, selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. …I think they’ve ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it’s Arabs….”) Back to my point though–Kabel thinks Wal-Mart’s problems are caused by public relations issues, like the Andrew Young comment, high energy prices, and its own international strategy.

I disagree. Mr. Kabel, it was Chewymom.

Chewymom, you are a living proof that Walmart’s efforts (together with its PR firm Edelman) to “manage” the Blogosphere has failed miserably. Blog on!

What kind of idiot says those types of things?

Oh, the kind of idiot who thinks them. . .

TG, That was exactly what I said to someone else! Out of the heart, the mouth speaks! Public figures (think Cheney, Bush, or anyone else who has been caught unaware with the mike on) eventually say the things that are in their heart…and it reveals a whole lot about who the person really is.
