It’s All About Basketball.
DS16: Mom, in 2009, are you going to miss me?
Me: Ummmm…I don’t think so, DS16. That’s a pretty long ways off. Why?
DS16: Because I’ll graduate.
Me: DS16, graduating only takes a few minutes. You’re just walking across the stage. Besides, that’s two years from now.
DS16: HELLO! College???? Remember? I’m going to Auburn.
Me: Uh, DS16, I was planning for you to stay in Developmental (his special education high school program, available up until age 21) for a few more years. Then maybe go to our community college for a few classes.
DS16: Nope. I’m going to Auburn. I need to play basketball.
Me: I’m not taking you to Auburn in 2009. I think you won’t quite be ready.
DS16: That’s okay. I’ll fly there. (Seems he’s getting used to the not-driving idea, at least.)
Me: Hey, I know! How about Clemson? Your grandparents live there–you could live with them!
DS16: Well, can they beat Auburn in basketball?
LOL–he has his priorities in order. Who can win in basketball? That’s where he’s going in 2009, so he can play on the team. You go, DS16!

HeLlO! University of Kentucky…right at my back door. Free room and board for one handsome young man that I adore! Oh…and a place for his parents to visit too!
