Pray for My Friend and Regular Commenter
My friend Glenn comments on my blog frequently. Their family is really special to us–Glenn and his wife Jan are just REAL people. They are kindhearted and artistic and fun and intellectual and full of grace! We really love their family. In addition to all of that, they are hospitable. They literally have turned their home into a hospital for our friend Dean who is losing his battle with the brain tumor that continues to grow in his head. They have given up their downstairs bedroom and bathroom for Dean, they have allowed zillions of friends to come and go to care for Dean, they have had hospice in and out of their home, and Glenn has patiently cooked steel cut oatmeal for Dean every single day for months.
In the midst of all of that, Jan’s father passed away almost exactly two weeks ago. So in addition for hosting and caring for our friend Dean, they have tended to Jan’s father, cared for Jan’s mother as she adjusts to life without her partner, and grieved his passing.
Today we received word that Glenn’s father passed away. He had the same disease my mother had–myelodysplastic syndrome. He was in another state, and thankfully Glenn and Jan and the rest of Glenn’s family were able to be with him when he left this world.
Please pray for Glenn and Jan and their three adult children. They have lost two fathers (and grandfathers) within two weeks, and they are facing losing our friend Dean probably in the very near future. It is more loss than would seem bearable in such a short time. I cannot imagine the burden of grief they must carry in their breast right now.
