What is, “Oh, so it’s kind of like my English class.”

This was Ben’s (11th grade) response after he had asked me to describe what my book club was like, and I responded that we all read a book over the course of a month, then we gathered to discuss it.

LOL!!! But we don’t have final exams with essay questions on them.

What are some books your book club has read? Some longtime friends of mine and I started a book club that’s been running for a little less than a year. It’s been such a nice thing for me. Each month one person chooses the book and hosts the gathering. This month we’re reading The Secret Garden, which I think will be fun. How about you, what are you reading?

I have just worked on putting together a list of our books. We have been meeting for less than a year, and so far we have read:
    Three Cups of Tea
    Kite Runner
    Love Walked In
    The Twentieth Wife
    Feast of Roses
    The Glass Castle
    Bright Shiny Morning
    The Last Lecture
This month I picked Nine Parts of Desire at the strong recommendation of a friend of mine. I’d love to see your club’s list, too! It might give us some good ideas for future meetings!

Thanks for your list, Chewy! I will check those out! I’m usually in quite a tizzy when it’s my turn to choose.

    So far we have read:

    Peace Like a River
    Cry, the Beloved Country
    Life is So Good
    Water for Elephants
    Marley & Me
    Precious Bane
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
    The Shack
    The Secret Garden

I have 3 Cups of Tea on my bookshelf; my mom sent it to me after she read and loved it.
