I hate when that happens! I also get attacked by water when I wash dishes!

And, why does this always seem to happen when you (”you” in general, not “you” specifically) are wearing white? Why does it never seem to happen when you are wearing a brown shirt or a patterned shirt where the stain won’t show? I think it’s some kind of coffee conspiracy.

That happens to me, too, although it’s usually because the kids say something so crazy that I spit out whatever I’m drinking at the moment. And I agree with Rutatita about the light shirts always getting the dark liquids on them.

For me, it always happens in the car. I blame my mug. I seriously think it has a mechanism to hold the liquid back for a few seconds until I tip it ALL THE WAY up, and then SWOOSH–it all flies to the front of the cup. And onto my shirt. My white shirt.

A couple of Tuesdays ago, I was finagling my way into the car, juggling mug, purse, keys, books–and whoosh all over the front seat of the car and all over my slacks. Luckily, it was my brown suit, and took just a few minutes to change from the slacks to the skirt, and the coffee only minimally showed on my hose. . . Still, the whole drive in to town, coffee kept dripping from the steering column.
Still, I drink coffee.

The best is if I can sit leisurely in my “biggie” chair (my recliner chair-and-a-half), send my kids out the door to school, watch the Today Show, and catch up on blogs while I sip my cup. That is rare, though. More typically, I am running out the door to drive carpool or head to a meeting or to class, balancing my cup of coffee, and always, always watching some of it leap onto my previously white t-shirt. An occasional treat is heading to the next town over and wandering through Target with my Starbucks latte in hand. Ahhhhh, heaven. [...]
